Russia is geographically enormous; it is situated in the Eastern part of Europe and Northern part of Asia. The main part of the European territory of Russia is located within the Eastern European Plain. The closest neighbors of the country are Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, Poland, Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, China and North Korea. Russia also boarders on Sweden, Turkey, Japan. Russia has many mountain areas: the Ural mountains cover the eastern part, the Caucasus mountains cross the southern part of the country. The largest rivers are Volga, Lena, Irtysh, Yenisey, Ob, Amur. The climate of Russia is varied: temperate in the south, coastal in the north-west, humid continental in much of European Russia, sub arctic in Siberia, and tundra climate in the polar region.
