Russia. This word contains so much. We say Russia and we mean Moscow, bears, literature, ballet, Hermitage. Moscow’s elegant cousin, the “Venice of the North”, the city with European flavour, northern capital of Russia – all these nicknames are about St. Petersburg. Siberia. We pronounce this name and imagine vast stretches of forests, a million lakes and rivers, an enormous wealth of wilderness. It is impossible not to visit this area, especially its most scenic part (between Irkutsk and Khabarovsk). Pay attention that Irkutsk is a perfect spot to start your travel to the Baikal, the world’s deepest lake. It is a home to wildfowl, bear, and freshwater seal. Want to enjoy the most beautiful natural surroundings, go to Karelia. It has a patchwork of lakes, marshes and forests, a variety of mushrooms and berries. Who has never heard of Leo Tolstoy, the author of War and Peace and Anna Karenina.
